Real Food in Real Life

Welcome to Healthy
Family Doc

Five years ago our family transitioned to a whole food, plant-based diet; and we ultimately found a way to make this type of eating part of our rural Maine lifestyle. Here we grow some of our own food, keep chickens, eat some meat, and load our plates with fruits, veggies and legumes.

For us it’s about health, happiness, and balance — we’d love to show you how we do it!

Hi! I’m Paige Picard, DO

I am a family doctor also board certified in lifestyle medicine — the kind of medicine to help prevent and reverse chronic disease. With a family of my own and over a decade of clinical experience, I understand first hand the balance required to live a healthy life in our modern world.

Once I had a patient say to me “wait, your husband really eats this way too?” and I thought “Yes! And I can show you!” From this the healthyfamilydoc instagram page was born and I realized a passion for showing people how they can strive for a health in their own lives.

Nutritional Guidance

Just for a second, imagine the power in food. Every day, 3 times a day we have the power to fuel our bodies and our minds for health and happiness. Consistent dietary habits hold the potential to significantly shape our energy levels, emotions, mindset, and overall health.

Fitness and Exercise

Should look as simple as walking. If you can walk, you can exercise your way to good health. The key to staying well and aging well is to move naturally in your every day life. So let’s keep it simple with daily step and movement goals. Follow for more inspiration!

Stress Management and Sleep

If we don’t sleep, we don’t exercise, eat well, or think clearly. While sleep is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle some days it is hard to come by. If you’re a perfectly imperfect sleeper and find it difficult to prioritze sleep in a busy season of life, all I can say is you’re in good company!
